Netherfield House, Leamington Spa
Description Netherfield House, Leamington Spa
Netherfield is a voluntary organisation and a registered charity, which has a management committee. We have good relationship with our local community and have over the years broken down many misconceptions and barriers associated with mental illness. Research has shown 1 in 4 people will experience some form of mental ill health during their lifetime.
We cater for a unique group of people who have enduring mental health issues and learning difficulties. These clients are not a high priority in today's environment and often fall between the gap of health & social care service provisions.
Ironically we also have had an increase in referrals to our service to support clients with severe and enduring mental illness.
We cater for a unique group of people who have enduring mental health issues and learning difficulties. These clients are not a high priority in today’s environment and often fall between the gap of health & social care service provisions. Ironically we also have had an increase in referrals to our service to support clients with severe and enduring mental illness. Without our support their condition would worsen; we can help them to stabilize and manage their condition, improve their daily living skills, communicate better with one another, friends, family and when out in the community, travel safely both on public transport and when out walking, improve basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills, learn how to cook, shop and be aware of a healthy diet to keep themselves well. Originally based at Dale Street Methodist Church, Leamington Spa, from October 1973 till January 1980.
The Centre then moved to the current premises at 5 Pound Lane, Lillington. The Team We have a small approachable staff team who work closely together with volunteers to provide a friendly, warm and supportive atmosphere at Netherfield. Aims of Netherfield To provide social support and rehabilitation for people who suffer or are suffering from mental or emotional stress, in a relaxed and therapeutic environment. To support members relatives and to provide a link between the community and statutory services.
Philosophy of Care To encourage members to develop their personal skills and to regain confidence and independence up to the limit of their potential. Each person is treated as an individual in line with our Equal Opportunities policy. We encourage a co-operative family environment, with the object of helping members to regain their place in the community.
